And it is done

Alas, the semester has almost come to an end.

The last day of classes was today, and yes, there was that inner joy inside screaming out '.........sweet...'

Went out for an afternoon drink with the mates, celebrating the shit we went through, knowing well ahead that in a couple weeks time there's more shit to be handed to us. Nevertheless, it still feels great knowing that I don't have to sit through more boring lectures until July.

How fast time flies...

Blargh

Words cannot describe how pissed I am right now.

Such audacity.

Oh well...

Only for this semester...

Ways to enjoy annoying small animals

...somewhat bordering on animal cruelty, and yet still hilarious.

That's pretty difficult to accomplish.

And yet the outcome of this video is pure genius... to some extent.

I am touched...

...by 4 headbanging Finns playing cellos.

<_<

This is Apocalyptica's instrumental cover of the classic Metallica song 'Nothing Else Matters'.

Yes, it does seem like 4 headbanging Finns playing cellos, but seriously, give it a hear. It touches you in a way that's like... uhm...... like... the way 4 headbanging Finn's play cellos...?

Excuse me, did you see the last 9 weeks of my life pass by...?

9 weeks in, and so far, so good.

Shit, 9 weeks... Time flying by is an understatement, it is passing by faster than a steroid driven man on... well, steroids.

The week before orientation way back when at the end of February. I remember the weather. Hot as balls. Dead tired (For not sleeping on a business class flight. I do badly on long trips... but I digress). But, in the land they call Australia...

*Cue Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman*

Anticipation for the new life... but not as much anticipated for starting off being homeless.

Week 0: Orientations. *Snore...* They had something called a Unix Survival Skills lab which essentially teaches you how to store directories and files within the university's Unix operating system servers. So apart from the whole windows xp setup, there's also something so ancient that you can't directly access the files with handy shortcuts, but with using command lines in the prompter (Like when you're 5 years old, your dad bought the family's first computer, and then there was no splash screen that said 'WINDOWS' but more like string upon string of computer code... now THAT'S old school. again, I digress) to manipulate files and directories.

WHAT?! WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?!

*snore*

Week 1: The start of college. Still homeless. To call the trip from Dandenong to the City is like saying how long it takes to get to Mars: a pretty damn long time. I also learned the decadent atrocity of a course that is Computer Organisation. Never ever had I encountered a subject so-not-worth learning...

Week 2: Again, still homeless. BUT! Hopes are getting up. Found this little place in a town called Prahran, 20 minutes away from the city by train. COOL! Public transport just right outside. EXCELLENT! And the building's refurbished and not only does it look brand new, there are rooms available. PERFECT! So why aren't you replying my goddamn application to which I submitted a week ago when you'd say you'd reply the next day?! Bah...

Week 3-5: Out alone for the first time. The first night was alright, thinking 'Wow, so this is life...', then there was the trip to the store 5 days straight, buying everything i need. I probably spent more than I should've spent on a small home, but hey, gotta live comfortably. The other problem is meals. Thus that's when I learned the joy (Or lack thereof) of cooking. First meal I made was fried eggs and vegetables. Not bad considering I was expecting to burn the building down. Then it progressed to fried rice, medium rare steak, and before I knew it, I was eating less of the 'Mackers' and the Hungry Jacks for lunch or dinner each day.

The one setback of the apartment though... is the office chair.

OH GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY NOT THE OFFICE CHAIR!!!

But seriously, if you think about, this is the only piece of seating (Apart from my bed) that I'm gonna be using for a majority of my living time in the room. And for something that I'm gonna park my ass on for maybe a few hours or so doing assingments, this is what it looks like: Like wtf...

Okay, at first glance, I thought okay, maybe it might take some getting used to... but that take some getting used ended up with a sore ass, a pretty uncomfortable rash (<_<) and a pair of sore eyes for having to look at that thing. There should be prison for people who make chairs like these.

However, thanks to a little ingenious thinking, I made a few alterations in to make the chair slightly less uncomfortable than it already is.

Behold, the product of ingenuity (Did I spell that right...? Fail...) and cheapness.

Week 6-8: Assignments. Oh-so-fun. Sure, I had assignments within the previous weeks, but none as nut-cracking as the assignments now. In between week 6 was the Easter break, in which I hardly spent time going out having a few drinks. And yes, there was that interesting trip to Hanging Rock in the Northwestern part of Melbourne. Legend has it that the rocks are curse-ed and that people who have gone for picnics at Hanging Rock in the past have gone crazy... *snore*

Alas, here I am now, approximately 9 weeks (Give or take) in of life in the oz. Only one can wonder what the next 9 weeks or so ahead will give...
